Finally! We are on our way again. Very early in the morning we leave Port Sud and |

pass some of the permanently moored barges outside of
Ramonville. Marc, Marc and Shari from San Francisco stay with us for a couple of weeks, is our resident photographer and he gave me permission to use his pictures on our web-site. |

After a few kilometers we reach our first lock. |

The lock door is closing behind us. |

I guess Shari did not know that we would immediately put her to work. Here she opens one of the still manually operated lock doors. |

Leaving the lock of Montgiscard, the locks on this stretch of the Canal have a funny double chamber, only one has doors, the other is doesn't seem to serve any purpose except making one drive through 4 small passages! |

At Negra we visited the Chapel of the Canal du Midi. |

The chapel is located above the Negra lock. This was the first day lunch stop of the postal barges traversing the Canal du Midi in the 18th century. |

Dinner with Shari and Marc. |

A little bit of trauma after dinner. Racine, while
playing, badly hit his knee on a chair. We first thought the leg might be
broken, but a visit to the vet fortunately revealed only an inflamed knee. Thanks to Marc's pillow Racine recovered quickly. |
