We start early as we want to reach Toulouse
by mid-afternoon. The reflection of a bridge in the morning light makes up for the lack of Croissant. |

L'ecluse to Sanglier - the lock of the Boar - it would be
interesting to know the history of all the lock names. La Criminelle, ecluse de Guerre are other names begging for an explanation! |

Our mooring on the canal under the plane-trees in Port-Sud. While the plane trees are great for providing shade they are a pain otherwise. A French couple told me that `from May through September there is always something falling from a plane tree'. Now it is a gooey sap that turns into brown spots overnight. We wash our deck every day, and still see the boat change color! With the water rationing in place in Southern France (no car wash, no filling of swimming pools, no watering of lawns and now even agriculture is not allowed to water their crop one day a week) we use filtered canal water, which is probably not the most ideal water to try to clean the deck! |
