Our first `down-hill' lock. It is named `Ocean' showing that the Atlantic is in sight ....
The small town of Avignonet Lauragais is the highest point overlooking the water separation area.

The 4 lane freeway and the high speed train line share the Col de Narouze with the Canal.

Our stop for the day, Gardouche, a small village on the canal.

The lock-keeper (green shirt) is engaged in a discussion with a local.

We have found the lock keepers extremely helpful, they know that navigation is not easy with the low water, but since there is not too much traffic they are very helpful in pointing out places to moor and places to avoid.
