The canal passes between the salt-water estuaries on one side and is separated from the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea by narrow sand dunes on the other side. |

As a contrast the man-made guard doors separating the river
Vidourle from the Canal du Rhone a Sete. In case of high water the doors close to avoid flooding of the canal. In strong current a tricky passage - naturally one should stay in the canal and not get carried by accident into the river. |

Time to tie
down for the night. As there are no bollards in sight we use our mooring
pins (well pin might be an understatement for something that is about 1
meter long and weighs a good 10 kgs). I guess by fall Arnold needs to move aside! |

Palavas is a
small coastal town, with a Casino that could have been built by the creators
of the Flintstones. We were just waiting for a few aliens to land...
