Our mooring space is in the port of the town of Hochfelden. Hochfelden is about 30 km North-west of Strasbourg. Hochfelden has a few restaurants, shops and most notable a brewery, the brewery Meteor. Brewing beer in Hochfelden is first mentioned in 870, since current site of the brewery is used since 1640.
The web-site of the town of Hochfelden (unfortunately the site is not very reliably available) shows a few aerial shots of the town and of the port.
We meet locals, notably a couple living just on the other side of the port, Christian and Josiane, they invite us for an Apéro and tell us a little about the town and resources available. One of the shops in town is a butchery, the owner is Mr Goetz. When we enter his shop he already (and likely with him the whole town) know about the 'couple stranded on a barge in port'. Every time we leave his store he gives us something to try; some local sausage, a slice of pâté, Alsatian Sauerkraut.
Our mooring space is next to the maintenance base of the canal authorities. At least our drinking water problem is solved, should we need to stay here for a longer period of time ....
