The port of Nevers, close to the famous Magny-Cours Formula 1 racing track, lies on a side arm of the canal. From there it is only a short walk over the Loire to the center of Nevers.

The windows of the cathedral were through bomb targeting errors of the Allieds in WW2 destroyed. The town then commissioned contemporary artists to create stained glass windows. So we find windows created by about 10 different artists each having designed a few of the windows in his/her personal style.
