The Saône from
Lyon to
Saint Symphorien
April 24 - April 26
In contrast to the Rhône is the Saône characterized as a gentle and charming river.
It flows through some of Europe's most famous wine regions; the Beaujolais and the Burgundy regions.
Not that it matters much, with our schedule all visits are postponed
until fall when we head downstream.

The
entrance to the Seille river.
According to the maps the river is in
theory 1.5 m deep (the map says in reality 1.3 m), is 39 km long
has four locks and ends at Louhans. But looking at it - I don't know if I ever should venture into it!

Saint Jean de Losne
is THE center of river pleasure barges of France. It has a big harbor, dry docks and ship-yards. The canal de Bourgogne branches towards Paris. You see a barge leaving that canal and entering the Saône below the bridge.

Since we are in the Burgundy we fly the Burgundy regional flag as our courtesy flag.
